General Scope of Project
The Hung Dao Heritage Garden project is a transformative initiative to create a sustainable, community-focused green space in New Orleans. This project aims to revitalize an underutilized urban area by incorporating neighborhood parks, urban farming spaces, and advanced green infrastructure to address flood risk while promoting environmental sustainability. Wingate Engineers has been selected as the program manager for this high-impact project, providing essential engineering design, project management, and community engagement expertise.
Wingate’s scope of work includes comprehensive hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, engineering design for green infrastructure, and community engagement. Our responsibilities also extend to ensuring the integration of sustainable stormwater management practices, such as rain gardens and permeable pavements, to mitigate flooding and enhance the environmental quality of the area.
Key deliverables for the project include:
- Task 1: Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling: Updating existing models to reflect current conditions, performing calibration, and conducting production runs to support flood risk mitigation strategies.
- Task 2: Engineering and Design: Developing detailed designs for the community space, focusing on flood resilience through green infrastructure, and ensuring the site meets local regulations and the community’s needs.
- Task 3: Community Engagement: Developing a robust community engagement plan, facilitating workshops, and gathering input from local stakeholders to ensure the project aligns with neighborhood needs and priorities.
- Task 4: Project Management: Overseeing the overall management of the project, including resource allocation, schedule management, budgeting, and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
The Hung Dao Heritage Garden is a critical component of the City’s broader efforts to enhance resilience, environmental sustainability, and public space access. Wingate Engineers, with its deep-rooted commitment to community engagement and sustainable engineering solutions, is uniquely positioned to deliver this project successfully. Our proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects ensures that the Hung Dao Heritage Garden will be completed efficiently, meeting the City’s goals for environmental improvement and community development.
