General Scope of Project

Wingate is providing professional engineering and design services for the Koop Drive Trace Trailhead and Park, a community-centered recreational development located at the intersection of Koop Drive Trailhead and Dover Road in Mandeville, Louisiana. The site is being developed as a multimodal recreational destination that integrates park amenities, trail connectivity, and landscaped buffers to enhance accessibility, safety, and environmental performance.

The project includes the development of walking trails, playgrounds, picnic and gathering areas, and onsite parking improvements, all designed to complement the existing Tammany Trace corridor. Wingate supports the project through technical evaluation, engineering design, and site development services to ensure the park infrastructure functions as both a recreational asset and a sustainable site feature.

Wingate’s work includes site layout development, grading design, drainage evaluation, and utility coordination to support phased construction and long-term site viability. Particular attention is given to stormwater management strategies associated with new impervious surfaces, pedestrian areas, and parking facilities to ensure effective runoff control and environmental compliance.

Design services also focus on coordinating utility systems and access improvements that support public circulation and facility connectivity across the site. Wingate applies constructability-driven design practices to reduce long-term maintenance risk, improve site durability, and maximize usability for visitors of all ages.

Throughout the project, Wingate collaborates closely with project stakeholders to deliver a recreational space that reflects the vision of the community while maintaining technical excellence. The team emphasizes sustainable design principles, resilient infrastructure, and efficient site planning to ensure the park serves both recreational needs and environmental goals.

The design framework establishes a welcoming, accessible outdoor facility that strengthens the region’s trail network while providing a high-quality public gathering space. The project showcases Wingate’s ability to integrate technical engineering, thoughtful planning, and community-focused design into a cohesive and functional infrastructure solution.
